ALTO’s IT team has developed advanced technology solutions such as airport visibility forecasting and security video analysis to reduce losses. They also support a retail crime prediction project in Chile and present their advances at conferences highlighting computer vision and data intelligence for loss prevention.
The IT team has a presence in social networks and conferences, among others, where it talks about the technological management carried out in the company.
Awards and track record
2019 – Challenge Viva Colombia – University of the Andes, Bogotá – Colombia
The challenge consisted of forecasting the horizontal and vertical visibility of the airports associated with Viva Colombia. Visibility is a critical aspect, since, if this variable is not known, the result is cancelled flights or delayed flights. To solve this problem we developed a solution that involves direct connection to web sites that provide information about key variables that allow us to make such predictions, for example pressure, temperature, etc. Then this information went through a quality process, where it is debugged, cleaned, and the information is narrowed down. Subsequently, it is used to feed deep learning models. These models not only make predictions for different times, but also activate alerts that inform the VIVA COLOMBIA network. This process is coupled in a single web solution, which in real time is capable of describing, forecasting and alerting, thus fulfilling the analytical integration for decision making.
2019- INFORMS Congress, Seattle – USA
Acceptance to present at the INFORMS 2019 congress with the work developed “Analysis of security camera videos through deep learning models to reduce property losses”
2018 to date – Research support for ALTO Alliance Research and Development Project – CORFO, Santiago de Chile – Chile.
The research project of an intelligent system for the reduction of retail shrinkage due to criminal actions, which has the capacity to predict crimes through prescriptive measures, is being monitored.
Participation in Analytical Congresses – Universidad de los Andes, Bogota – Colombia.
Analytics Forum 2020 – Computer Vision: Beyond video analysis
ALTO Alliance, a technology-based company dedicated to the management of operational exceptions to reduce the risks of our clients, through the prescription of simple and effective actions that aim to improve financial results, has been working on the analysis of videos from security cameras of different clients through the use of multiple techniques such as deep learning models, computer vision, data analytics, statistical analysis to estimate distributions and data augmentation. Through the analysis of these videos it has been possible to detect and recognize subjects, as well as to identify the objects they are carrying during their journey, to follow the trajectory of the movement of people within a place under study and to collect temporal variables such as, for example, the count of people entering or leaving the establishment.
Analytics Forum 2019 – Loss prevention with an integrated approach.
In order to support the loss process from an integral perspective, ALTO has been developing data intelligence strategies, using analytics as the main factor, having a preventive system that quantifies, analyzes, alerts and suggests a decision making process. In this talk, some examples of this purpose were shown: firstly, the impact of the assignment, resulting from a facial recognition analysis. Also, a case of application of profiling of defendants according to their characteristics is presented.
