Alto Checks seeks to integrate and analyze public records, offering analysis focused on the control of risks in a company by its contributors.

The Alto Checks product seeks to generate confidence in decision making, supported with clear and objective information. By providing risk levels in each report, in order to obtain a neutral analysis of each person consulted.

Alto checks offers the facility to request reports manually and massively for the members or contributors in a company. Thanks to these reports the employer can make a safer and more effective decision. Checks offers the facility to investigate the public background with only the full name or identification number according to the country DNI (Chile), CURP (Mexico) and Cédula de identidad (Colombia), being possible to obtain a report, focused on how risky or favorable for the company is the collaboration of the investigated, “according to the client’s own criteria” since Checks offers impartial results, allowing to visualize the background of the bearer of that DNI, CURP or identity card.

Functions

Report generation

  • Reports configurable to customer needs, with an intuitive structure to create them.
  • Different categories of reports, customizable for each client, among the most requested are:
    • Transit
    • Criminal
    • International
  • Increased knowledge and transparency of information about those under investigation.
  • It offers the ease of record keeping and analysis, facilitating follow-up.
  • Scoring models and recommendation of investigated.
  • Reports available for several countries.
  • Simple” type reports, focused on obtaining the employment history of the investigated.
  • CheckID type reports, to validate and confirm the researched person’s documentation.

Upload of subjects to be investigated

  • Storage of assigned reports for each investigated subject, being possible to filter all reports for each subject.
  • Score and recommendation per subject.
  • Availability to load subjects, only with the identification credential.
  • Availability to add subjects from several countries.

Bulk loading

  • Facility to upload subjects and request reports in bulk through Excel.

Architecture

The checks team works in an architecture based on layers, which are explained below:

Frontend layer:

It is in charge of forming a relationship between the development team and the users, which are of two types of users:

  • Client: User who communicates directly with the checks portal to make use of it.
  • Administrator: This is given for the internal high user.

Backend layer:

Composed by API’S, they are the ones that define a level in the database. Being the only one in charge of managing, storing data directly in the database.

Script layer:

They are in charge of searching for information, analyzing, calculating and processing data. As well as reporting the results of reports. In this way, the information feeders are integrated.

Safety layer:

For product checks the method for accessing public API’s and portals, the method for users and administrators are as follows:

For customers to access the API’S and portal, Alto-Auth is used.

For the administrator (Alto internal users) Google is used, authenticating through Alto’s Google account.

Infrastructure

The checks product supported by the Kubernetes framework, allow the components to always be available, when there is a service failure, the components are automatically restarted to work again, which means that the service will always be available unless the components fall into an infinite loop (they fall and connect infinitely).

In case the service goes down completely, by means of the Gocd tool it is possible to switch the service to another place in the cloud so that its operation is still available instantly.

Databases are backed up daily (3 UTC) to avoid data loss.

Checks, how do you guarantee queries in databases outside the product?

Check, upon receipt of a report request, attempts to request access to public databases a limited number of times, and if no response is received, the client is notified “The information provided does not include sources that were not available at this time”.

Checks How do you handle data privacy (permissions to consult the information, legally)?

The client is responsible for obtaining approvals, and when clients sign a contract with Checks, they assume the responsibility of requesting permissions from those being investigated regarding the analysis and collection of their data.

Checks uses public sources to collect information, which offer non-sensitive information collected from different sources, which anyone can access and consult. The only service provided by Checks (not counting the collection of information), is to notify if the researched is a person recommended or not for the company.
